About the Artist — A true artist sees beauty everywhere, and the original jewelry created by Susan Tinkler (TINK) O’Neal demonstrates the unique and diverse nature of the world she lives in.
Her designs are inspired by the art and craftsmanship of the many cultures she’s known and observed while she was a certified scuba instructor in Guaymas, Mexico; Eleuthera, Bahamas; LeBucanier, Martinique and Georgetown, Grand Cayman.
Susan has an eye for the elements of unusual and rare combinations of bone carvings, ivory, vintage jewelry, ancient coins, and gaming chips. To these she adds a color palette of gemstones and beads from Africa, India, China, Czechoslovakia with blending touches of sterling silver.
Some creations are whimsical and reflect her delight in her two young children. Some creations are earthy and display her love of plants and gardens while others speak the language of energy, which she exudes as she pursues her ;interests in horseback riding, scuba diving, cycling, skating and the great outdoors.
Educated at Stephen F. Austin with a degree in fine art and a minor in metalsmithing, Susan taught art for seven years and has brought all the facets of her life into her studio. With a smile as big as Texas, Susan will tell anyone who selects a piece of her jewelry to own, “I hope it will bring you the pleasure I experienced in creating it.”
